>> in fact, bob, we did see manufacturing at the top of the list for the leaders in the dow jones industrial average, in particular.we did see 3m, not far behind it. we saw caterpillar. in fact, caterpillar hitting a 52-week high in today’s session. of course, those, the two biggest leaders in the dow jones industrial average. of course, we were seeing all kinds of records today with the dow closing above 9300. that, its highest close since july july 5 of 2002. other optimistic signs, ideas of how people can make money from owning a seat on the new york stock exchange, the new york stock exchange saying that seat sold today for $1.8525 million, up from the prior sale in march for $1.5 million, rising with the market’s value. other records we saw today, the s&p pharmaceutical index helping the s&p 500. that also hit a 52-week high, closing just slightly below that. of course, we did see names like merck, another leader in the dow jones industrial average. that also hitting a 52-week high. but pfizer up today. that after saying a study showed patients with diabetes who took its lipitor cholesterol medicine had fewer heart attacks and strokes. drug stocks with a strong performance, along with drug distributors. they were among the list of the biggest net gainers here at the new york stock exchange. of course, as we’ve seen the rally since march 11, financials had been performing well. we saw that once again today. citigroup hitting a 52-week high. in fact, broker/dealers putting in a strong performance. bear stearns, goldman sachs, hitting 52-week highs. we have bear stearns reporting earnings wednesday. and lehman reporting earnings on thursday. back to you in the studio, bob.

>> thank you, deborah kostroun from the big board. airbus won an order for 41 planes to help surpass boeing as world’s biggest plane maker. emirates is the world’s fastest-growing airline and will pay airbus $8.5 million for the new jets. at the paris air show, airbus and boeing won orders totalling $19 billion from emirates. shares of boeing climbed on the day. rite aid’s former chief executive is expected to plead guilty tomorrow on accounting fraud charges. martin grass will be the first c.e.o. to plead guilty in a major accounting fraud case since the collapse of enron in 2001. rite aid’s former president and c.f.o. admitted their roles in a plan to inflate earnings at the drug store chain by $1.6 billion. both former executives are cooperating with federal prosecutors. moody’s investors service cut r.j. reynolds debt ratings to junk, citing eroding profits, higher legal risks and increased competition. the credit rating company cut r.j.r.’s debt two levels to ba-1 to affect about $1.8 billion of securities. moody’s action follows a downgrade by fitch ratings more than a month ago. the price of crude oil in new york rose on speculation that u.s. gasoline demand will be unusually strong during the peak summer driving season. it rose 1.7% to close at $31.18. and gold futures rose, as well, closing at $359 an ounce. when we return, when the fed floods the market with liquidity, must all boats rise at once? our next guest says it may appear that way now looking at stocks , bonds and commodities.
