Fashion statement meets high-tech


Today’s most exciting mobile phones manage to blend the best of high fashion with the best of high technology.


Design innovation in terms of form, appearance and materials is as important as feature-sets and functionality. A mobile phone is a personal device and buyers want a model that fits their personality.

But innovation in both design and functionality creates challenges for the engineering teams that labour to ensure that the phone still works as a phone, capable of delivering the best quality voice and data connections.

One of the most critical components of a cellular device, whether it is carrying voice or data, is its radio interface. As radio networks proliferate to include high-speed cellular connections such as EV-DO and HSDPA, WiFi and WiMax, the area of air interface and radio research has become all the more critical to mobile phone manufacturers.
