आपकी बेटी क्या करती है .
aapki beti kya karti hai? What does your daughter do?
वह अभी छोटी है.वह स्कुल जाती है .
vah abhi choti hai. vah skul jati hai. She's still young; she goes to school.

What's this called?

The verb कहना kahna 'to say' is useful in asking what something is called - a frequent event when learning a new language! Point to something and say:

The question literally means 'What do [they] call this?', leaving the 'they' unexpressed because it's an impersonal kind of question.(The word इसको  isko 'this' will be explained in Unit 5.)

Language about language

Because the tense introduced in this chapter describes events that haven't been completed, it's called the 'imperfective' present. The form
बोलता bolta
is called the 'imperfective participle'.

The verb 'to be
' (हूँ  hun,
है  hai etc.)
as used here is called the 'auxiliary', because it helps complete the meaning of the verb by specifying its timeframe. (English uses auxiliaries too: 'will' in the future tense 'I will go' is an example.)
