China's Boshi Fund Management adopts Xinhua/FTSE China A 200 Composite Index
Boshi Fund Management Co Ltd, one of China's largest fund managers, has adopted the Xinhua/FTSE China A 200 Composite Index as the tracking benchmark for the Boshi/Xinhua FTSE A 200 Fund, the first of its kind in China to cover both the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges.
The index was chosen due to its ""accurate reflection of the investment objective of the fund,"" said Mark Makepeace, chairman of the Xinhua/FTSE Index (XFI) and chief executive of the FTSE Group.
The Xinhua/FTSE China A 200 Composite Index was capitalized at 2.07 trln yuan or 250 bln usd as of June 27, 2003, with a closing value of 3632.15.
The index comprises 75 pct of the Xinhua/China A 200 Index and 25 pct of the Xinhua/FTSE China Government Bond Index. It includes the most important and actively traded 200 stocks in China.
Fredy Bush, director of XFI and chief executive officer of Xinhua Financial Network (AFX-ASIA), said the adoption of the index by Boshi, was ""another milestone for XFI.""
She said the decision acknowledged FTSE's international index experience and XFN's knowledge of domestic markets both in mainland China and by the international investment community.
XFN is an independent financial media company, based in Hong Kong, providing financial information on China's markets. It is owned by a group of international shareholders including Xinhua news agency, Nippon Venture Capital, REFCO, Informa and Funai Venture Capital and is the owner of AFX-Asia.
新华富时指数成首只覆盖深沪两市的指数追综基金
中国指数编制公司新华富时指数宣布，新华富时中国A 200复合指数已被选?博时裕富证券投资基金的跟踪基准。该基金?一支开放式指数跟踪基金，已于上周五获中国证监会批准发行，是中国目前唯一包含沪深两市股票的指数型基金。
新华富时董事长兼富时指数集团首席执行官麦思平先生表示：「我们很高兴能在这只中国创新金融?品中扮演不可或缺的角色。」
他说：「作?行业先锋，新华富时是唯一一家提供沪深两市覆盖的中国指数公司。新华富时中国A 200复合指数之所以能成?该基金的跟踪基准，是因?它能充分配合基金的投资目标。」
新华富时中国A 200复合指数能同时反映中国大陆沪深两市的国内股票及债券表现，其构成比例?：75％来自于新华富时中国A 200指数，25％来自新华富时中国国债指数。
该复合指数的编制不仅符合国内基金管理条例有关除股票投资外需有最低20％的债券投资的规定，更能满足投资者能广泛投资于整个中国市场，实现资本增值的诉求。
新华富时中国A 200指数以市值大小选股，并按照流通量及可投资性进行甄选，囊括了中国最重要的和最活跃的200支股票。截止至2003年6月27日，该指数的总市值已达到2.07万亿人民币，收盘价?3632.15。在该指数中，上交所股票共128只，占指数权重65％；而剩下的部分则由深交所的78只股票占有。同日，新华富时中国国债指数共包含16只沪深两市债券。
新华富时指数于上月得到国内首个获批的伞形基金──湘财合丰行业系列基金──采纳?基准。另外，在今年年初，巴克莱国际投资管理公司向美国证券交易委员会（SEC）递表，申请第一只供美国投资者买卖的中国股票 ETF?品 「 i 股新华富时香港中国25交易所买卖基金」（iShares FTSE/Xinhua Hong Kong China 25 ETF）在美国挂牌。
